Research Technician: £28,759 to £29,605 with progression to £32,982 per annum
Research Assistant: £30,619 to £32,411 per annum

About the Lab:
The Laboratory of Cognitive and Translational Neuroscience (https://research.ncl.ac.uk/ctn/) aims to establish internationally competitive research in neurobiological basis of auditory cognition and memory with the potential to advance treatments and therapeutic interventions for nervous system disorders. We develop programs to link with clinical and neurosurgical patient work, which strongly aligns with the vision of Newcastle University and Newcastle University Centres of Research Excellence (NUCoREs).
The Role:
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced Research Technician/Research Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for advancing medical research and the understanding of animal welfare, and will be able to provide research support and assistance, as well as excellent care and training for nonhuman primates.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• Experience of working with animals in research settings.
• An understanding of the regulatory requirements to work with nonhuman primates
• Experience of working with Office Suite and database.
• Well-developed organisational and communication skills to meet deadlines with a positive and proactive approach to duties and attention to detail
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interface with staff and students
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding research environment
• Experience in a range of neuroscience techniques, including neurophysiology, fMRI, computer programming or histological processing is desirable.
Qualifications:
Candidates who have a Master’s degree in Neuroscience, Animal Welfare or related discipline and/or have interests in pursuing a related PhD program are desirable.
