Professor Position at Department of System Neuroscience, National Institute for Physiological Sciences, National Institutes of Natural Sciences (Japan)

National Institute for Physiological Sciences (NIPS), the National Institutes of Natural Sciences (NINS), invites applications for the position of Professor.

2. Research field

The NIPS is an inter-university research institute in the field of basic medical science that aims to understand the functions and mechanisms of the human body and brain. This position is open to researchers who aim to gain a systems-level understanding of brain functions by conducting neuroscience research using non-human primates, especially macaque monkeys, as a model to reproduce human perception and behavior. We call for internationally outstanding individuals who have excellent achievements in the above research fields and a willingness to actively contribute to the development of the relevant research community.
The successful applicant will be expected to actively engage in collaborative research with domestic and overseas researchers, as well as in the operation of the National BioResource Project Japanese Macaques, which are both important missions of the NIPS. In addition, as a faculty member of the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI), the successful applicant will also be in charge of graduate education.

3. Qualifications

Applicants should have a doctoral degree or equivalent research achievement.

4. Period of appointment

Five years. Renewable after a qualification review.

5. Treatment

Salary will be determined in accordance with the NINS’s payment standards. Other conditions will be determined as stipulated by NINS.
